"The story, the characters, she (the author) has brought it all to reality. Belle Brooks, she's an artist. I don't know about anyone else but this story wasn't just words written on a page. They were the magic people look for every time they crack open a book." ~ One Click Romance (Book Blog)

A devastating diagnosis leads to a life-changing decision. Powerful, beautiful, emotional, and a story that'll stay in your heart forever.

“I will breathe for you.”

Some people’s bodies are built to run marathons. Others to lift and labour. And some are made so graceful their footsteps are barely heard.
My body was built to be a vessel. It was always built for you.

Maybelline Connors knows stars are not always as faultless as they appear. She knows life is not permanently concreted into its foundations, and love can last a lifetime … even when a lifetime is shorter than one hoped.
May has only one thing left to fight for her baby. And when the man you love’s heart is breaking, it can be hard to find the beauty in those stars you once adored.

With life there is love … and with love there will always be life.

ALWAYS YOU is a highly emotional standalone (Beautiful You Series, book #1) by international bestselling author Belle Brooks. Grab your tissues and let your heart take over.

"This book shredded my heart, it was so tragically beautiful...never has a book made me cry like this...none even come close. Although I had moments similar with The Time Travelers Wife, The Fault in Our Stars …" ~ Reviewer

"Sitting here, writing this and I'm still crying.
The story, the characters, she (the author) has brought it all to reality, Belle Brooks, she's an artist. I don't know about anyone else but this story wasn't just words written on a page. They were the magic people look for every time they crack open a book. This book is worthy of more than just five stars."
~ One Click Romance

"Sometimes when you read a book, you get a couple of pages in and you stop, put it down and just stare at the wall thinking, "Oh please no. She can't do that. She just can't.This book was that for me. It didn't break my heart - it shattered it. Into a million tiny fragments" ~ Author Rebecca Barber

Where to start with this one...
When I write a review, it's usually easy. I know what I'm getting when I buy a book, and I accept what I'm getting as I buy it. In this case, I was largely blind, and because of that, it's taken longer to write this.

1. As a romance novel, I would rate it a three. I don't think there is much romance in the book. While May is part of a great loving relationship, that's not what I found the book to be about. The focus is about her prepping to die. For all of the flashbacks, there is a distance to them for her emotionally, and therefore for me. Her acceptance of her death is difficult for those around her, and destroys the romance almost immediately. You know right away that the "Always You," is the child, not Will. I recognize May and Will are losing something great, should have had time, but May is disconnecting, and we see nothing from Will's persective, so, for me, as a romance novel... it doesn't work, and maybe because I've lost friends to cancer young, I see this differently, and there is nothing romantic about it. That said...

2. As a literary fiction novel, I would rate it four to five. Beautifully written and painfully true from watching friends prepare for the end. It's hard to read something so genuinely crafted to tell the story of facing the end and having your own body fail and betray you. Belle Brooks should be proud of digging into the space where it hurts. And it did. It hurt.

I'm of two minds and it makes giving a star difficult. By labeling it romance, I personally don't feel it delivers on the label, but as fiction, it delivers beautifully. I debated hard on this one. So, you see where I landed. I hope the review helps anyone trying to decide.

Always You Beautiful You Series Book 1 eBook Belle Brooks Karen Harper Emily A Lawrence Reviews

Of all the Belle Brooks novels I've read this is the novel that challenged me the most the moral dilemma faced in this novel is the most real and heartbreaking dilemma one could ever face.

I hate how absorbed you get into the characters lives, how you feel their happiness and joy, their sorrow and heartache. I hate how you think of their situations as your own, what you would do in their place. I hate feeling all of this because it's so well written and makes you cry snot bubbles while reading.

This novel stays with you long after you've finished the end. It's kind of novel you wait in line for hours for its movie premiere.

Belle Brooks please continue to write novels of this calibre because no matter how much one might hate the emotions that they go through while reading your novels, you touch your readers to the core and have them coming back time and again.
OMG THIS BOOK....first the cover caught my eye, then the blurb, then I HAD to read, I couldn't hold myself from digging in when I've so many books to read. I just KNEW this story would be special...as an avid reader you know in your gut when a story is going to grab you tightly and not let you go. Yep, this IS that type of story! I've finished it but it's one that'll stay in my heart forever and be in a special place there. Read it in 2 evenings, it's THAT type of story - you can't put it down!
I'd never read Belle Brooks work before and I'm cursing myself now for not having done so sooner. I loved the way this author wrote this story, oh so loved each character and made it "real". From the beginning I had a feeling as to how it would end but let me tell you the journey while reading was spellbinding and I didn't truly know how exactly it would end .
Bittersweet and breathtakingly beautiful are 2 words that keep coming to my mind when I think of this story and what May, her hubby Will as well as her family and friends go through.
What an amazing group who I'd love to have in my corner supporting me!
I NEVER gave up hope, kept praying and kept going back to look at May on the book cover ♡
May and Will's song...ahhhhhh so perfect.
The F-it Bucket List (read the story to find out) blew me away ♡
"In life there is love and in love there will always be life."
Utterly beautiful story so well written by the author and I'd very highly recommend.
#cancersucks - I don't think anyone hasn't been impacted by cancer in some way.
I SO want to read more like this from Belle Brooks, she delivers!
Sometimes when you read a book, you get a couple of pages in and you stop, put it down and just stare at the wall thinking, "Oh please no. She can't do that. She just can't."

This book was that for me.

I got a couple of chapters in and had to stop. I didn't want to know the answer. I couldn't. I knew, that if I turned the page and what I thought was going to happen, did in fact happen, I knew this book would break my heart.

It didn't break my heart - it shattered it. Into a million tiny fragments.

For me, Always You wasn't really about what was happening to May, but what was happening to those who loved her. Her husband Willard, her best friend Gem, even her crafty mother. It was the relationship with her father though that reduced me to a blubbering mess. There's something special about the relationship between a girl and her Daddy and Brooks did an amazing job of bringing that right to the front. After I finished reading, put the book down, wiped away the tears (cleaned up the required chocolate wrappers) all I wanted to do was grab hold of my own Dad and tell him I loved him

Brooks is evil. This book is designed to make you feel everything all at once, reconsider what's going on in your own life and how that can change at the drop of a hat. Always You has a "Bucket list" and after reading this book, once you recover, you'll be convinced you need one to because you never know what tomorrow may bring.

I would whole heartedly recommend this #UGLYCRY book
